I seem to have settled into a few things. This was the first week over 20 miles, and the first time since it got hot out that I had zero walking intervals (I’m sure we’ll have a few walking intervals in the upcoming weeks, but it was nice to push through it). The average pace on all my runs was under 13 minutes — barely on one of them, but the only other time that has happened this training cycle is Week 1.
I also see that when I’m hitting a comfortable pace, my average heart rate settles in right around 150. I’d probably like to bring that down a tad (maybe closer to 140-145), but unless it’s really hot and I’m really uncomfortable and I want to make sure I’m keeping it down, I haven’t really been paying attention to it at all.
I just let the mind work this week, one foot in front of the other. And I’ve been using our library’s partner apps for audiobooks, so getting some good fiction into my brain, in addition to my usual barrage of nonfiction.
I explained all the measuring in the Week 1 post.
